The amazing Italian label has always been known for releasing bands while still unknown to the vast majority of us mortals, but after 'x' time becoming the new Ty Segalls, Mikal Cronins or BBQs (relatively speaking, of course ). Lets put it this way, they have a masters degree in scouting.

This time, a new batch of 7”s has Banana Trio, The Frowning Clouds, Wet Blankets, Ausmuteants and Hierophants, and here we will introduce you to the latter two, the best ones in our humble opinion.

Both bands are from Australia -in fact, except Banana Trio, who are from Rome, all bands are Australian- and share some other member, so to speak. Here there’s more incest than in some European Royal families: Zak plays in Hierophants and The Frowning Clouds, like Jake, who is also part of Ausmuteants, who have Billy, also a member of Wet Blankets and some other familiar faces like The Living Eyes.

We already knew Ausmuteants from their debut LP in Aarght! Records and quickly became one of the bands that we put our hopes and dreams on.
This tricky 7"(with two songs on one side and a simple smooth surface on the other) is pure punk adrenaline. First bullet," Felix Tried To Kill Himself ", makes you want to do like Felix and make this the last song you hear in your life. Nearly three-minutes of pronounced crescendo, with a not too fast pace, but using the accumulation of instruments and gradually increase of the noise and density so it reaches an intensity that saturates, and for the time the schizophrenic guitar solos are there, you’re done, call the ambulance.
Then "15 Frames Per Second" takes over, where shines a synth and melodic base, sounding like melancholy and angry, quite Reatard, halfway between new wave and garage-punk.

Hierophants, on the other hand are quite different. "Nothing Neu" can be easily labeled as new wave, like the pioneering band Television used to do, with a soft but catchy rhythm, relying on repetition, alternating a guitar that hardly moves from its three chords and a synth that gives depth to the sound. A song in which everything is measured and fits absolutely perfectly, like clockwork, you could be playing it on loop for an hour and you would not mind.
The B side is for "Nervous Tic" a mix between Lost Sounds, The Dodgems and Gang of Four, an indeed hectic twitch that exudes energy, poured through an impressive sound wave. Hierophants have found the perfect song for a police raid and sign a 7" worth of being put in a frame.Fueenahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17292736369539427466noreply@blogger.com
