Toxie - S/T (EP, Junio 2013)

¡TRANSLATION IN THE COMMENTS SECTION !

Y escuchad "T.I.E.S." en Spotify!

  1. Blame it on a gif for making us fall in love with Number4Door, a little record label based in Carlisle, England, specialized in cassettes and with a remarkable taste in music, no matter what kind of tag we want to put them. Their second release is the reissue of the tape the American band Toxie sold on their tour.

Five songs from this Memphis four-piece, three of which are available for streaming on their bandcamp, recorded by the original members of the band. In them, Alex’s (bass) and Madison’s (guitar, also in Coasting) sweet voice highlight as they caress you, hypnotizing you, escorted by two former members of the Magic Kids, Ben(drums) switching from calming to hectic rhythms in a second, and Will (also former member of our adored The Barbaras) with the synths (and sometimes guitar), which are the main thing in "Tearing Up The Streets", putting you in a happiness cloud and making inevitable a re-play. As we move, is hard not to think in names such as Vivian Girls, or garage pop bands like Fungi Girls, and even we can hear echoes of the repetitive and dark post-punk of Wire, to name one.

The opening track (which we also included in our last mixtape) is “Newgate”, indie and post-punk blending perfectly with surf lo-fi, where the powerful bass clashes with the Bill’s vaporous synths and Alex’s bubbly riffs, taking you to an epic climax, while sentencing "We're all waiting to die".
"Rabbit" surrounds you with a sublime reverb, keeping a fast pace always lead by Alex’s tenuous voice, while "T.I.E.S." recreates a mysterious atmosphere, worthy of any Girls Names song.
As a gift (only available on the tape, "Playground", another jewel for this lil’ brilliant EP.

¡Soak yourself in this sweet and reverberate darkness!
